Chillam Joshi

Chillam Joshi Festival is a traditional festival celebrated by the Kalasha community, an indigenous ethnic group residing in the remote valleys of Chitral, Pakistan. The festival is celebrated every year in the month of May, and it is an occasion of great significance for the Kalasha people as it marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the farming season.

Itinerary for the tour:

Day 00: Thursday.

07:00 PM: Departure from Karachi via Greenline/Bus.

Day 01: Friday.

08:00 PM: Arrival in Islamabad.

Dinner & overnight stay in Islamabad Guest House/Hotel.

Day 02: Saturaday.

01:00 AM: Midnight departure for Kalash Valley in Coaster/Hiace. (Members joining from Islamabad will be informed about the meetup location)

07:00 AM: Stop at near Dir for Breakfast.

09:00 AMTransfer into 4x4 Jeeps from Coaster/Hiace at Ayun.

Reach Kalash Valley by the afternoon and witness the Chillam Joshi Festival.

08:30 PM: Dinner & Overnight stay at local guesthouse in Bumburet, Kalash.

Day 03: Sunday.

07:00 AM: Breakfast at the guesthouse.

Visit of the Kalasha graveyard and Museum. 

Join the cultural activities at Chilam joshi Festival.

08:30 PM: Dinner & Overnight stay at local guesthouse in Bumburet, Kalash.

Day 04: Monday.

07:30 AM: Breakfast at the guesthouse 

A visit to the Rumbur Valley to see the Chilam Joshi festivities. 

Return to Bumburet.

08:30 PM: Dinner & Overnight stay at local guesthouse in Bumburet, Kalash.

Day 05: Tuesday.

07:30 AM: Breakfast at the guesthouse 

Head towards Chitral town.

We will go for a half-day tour to the Qaqlasht Meadows which overlooks the town of Booni and offers panoramic views of Hindukush mountains. 

08:30 PM: Dinner and Overnight stay at Pamir Riverside Inn in Chitral.⁣

Day 06: Wednesday.

08:00 AM: Breakfast Call.

Visit the Chitral Fort and the Shahi Masjid. 

Departure for Islamabad and arrive at night in Islamabad..

End of services for members joining from Islamabad.

Overnight stay for other members.

Day 07: Thursday.

Breakfast

12:00 PM: Check-out from Islamabad Hotel/Guesthouse.

Day 08: Friday.

02:00 PM: Arrival in Karachi.
